This timeline was designed to help you keep track of the many processes that occur over the spring and summer before your enrollment in fall classes. Many of the items require action on your part, so please take care to review it. But be sure to check back as hyperlinks will be added to many Timeline entries as web materials become available. As always, more information on many of these topics can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions.

Writing Seminar (WRI) site opens for fall term choices

Fall term WRI students rank their top 8 seminar choices. If you fail to rank your top 8 choices online during the enrollment period, you will be placed in a Writing Seminar with open spaces, regardless of topic. To encourage you to enroll on time, the Princeton Writing Program will send you reminder emails during the enrollment period.

AlcoholEdu for College Part 1 opens [FYRE]

As an entering student and community member of Princeton University, you are expected to complete the AlcoholEdu for College online training program. You will receive an email on or around July 17, 2025 indicating that the training program is open. You will need to complete Part 1 of the training by August 21, 2025.

Computer Science Placement Test

The Computer Science placement test will be available on July 25 from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. (A link for the test will be shared closer to the testing date.)

First-Year Seminar (FRS) placement notifications sent

First-year students are notified of their fall term FRS placement status.

Notification of program placement in small-group experience (end of July)

You will be notified via your Princeton email address whether you've been placed in Outdoor Action, Community Action, or Dialogue and Difference in Action. In-season fall sport athletes are automatically placed in the Student-Athlete Experience.

Online language placement tests close at 5:00 p.m. ET
